Dyeing for Art

Bromelli is a label that takes the notion of handmade to it’s ultimate.

Bromelli is an exclusive design label created and run by artist Lucy Bromell. Lucy’s delight in printing on textiles is emphasized in her designs. Mainly working with silk and wool, Lucy experiments with ‘special styles’ and challenging printing techniques. These techniques usually physically or chemically change the structure of the cloth she is working with, giving it a touch of the Bromelli style.

Bromelli has been running for six years and has grown from it’s purely arts based beginnings to encompass a wide range of commercial aspects. These include earning her “Craft Mark” accreditation, producing corporate, State and Federal government gift works, making one off commissions, print runs for designers and interior designers, theatre costume work and creating glorious fashion outfits in conjunction with fellow Australian designer, Sarah Pondevie.

Bromelli’s range of scarves, wraps, throws and jackets are sold in a select number of art galleries and outlets throughout Australia. These creations include hand woven and printed felted wool scarves and throws, silk viscose devore scarves and wraps, silk organza printed and pieced fabric and discharged shot chiffon.

Bromelli will be showcasing their products at designedge – TCF Australia uncovered, Western Australia’s inaugural textile, clothing footwear and leather exhibition being held at the Burswood Exhibition and Convention Centre, September 23 – 25, 2003

Designedge will offer the chance for every player in the Australian textile, clothing, footwear and leather industries to expose their products to leading international and interstate buyers.

The Burswood Convention Centre will be a showcase of innovative products ranging from designer fashion, textiles, footwear, accessories, home wares, textile products and manufacturing opportunities.  A unique feature of the designedge trade exhibition will be a complimentary Business Matching service being provided by TCF WA where firms can lodge their area of interest in developing ongoing future business opportunities within the local, state, national and international TCFL industry.

Bindoon Boots will be located at Stand No 31 at Designedge and will also be available for private showings or appointments.

Gloss Media, the organisers of the annual Perth Fashion Festival, are coordinating the expo on behalf of the Textile, Clothing and Footwear Resource Centre of Western Australia (TCF WA), supported by the Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources and the Belmont Business Enterprise Centre Inc.
