Husssy
Hooray for Husssy and Every Woman
The entrepreneurial spirit, designer and manufacturer behind the Husssy Labelis Joanne Pellew-Hajinoor.
As a designer Joanne draws inspiration from “…women who have succeeded in whatever their chosen field… and… who have battled through adversity, social disadvantages and motherhood to achieve their goals.”
Joanne commenced her small business enterprise in 2005. When Joanne designed and made her daughter’s bikini it was the response from her daughter’s friends and the wider community that led to the Husssy Label crystallizing.
As a fashion Label Husssy continues to provide Joanne with the inspiration necessary to move forward. The response from people, once informed that Joanne designed and made her swimwear product, is one of ‘appreciation’ and ‘amazement’
Being a woman in small business is breaking new ground for Joanne Pellew-Hajinoor. To date, designing and manufacturing swimwear for children and adults has been unheard of within her Aboriginal descendents and possibly within the wider Aboriginal community. Her endeavours, provides a unique opportunity to showcase such possibilities.
Underlying the Husssy Label is the awareness that also on the horizon is the knowing that there are “…many gorgeous young Aboriginal girls who are natural model material…” and given the right professional advice and guidance could also make it to the top. The first step is to get noticed at t this year’s Everywoman Expo as part of designedge fashion incubator located at the Belmont Forum Shopping Centre.
The Designedge fashion incubator is a creative retail outlet that showcases the talents of local fashion designers. The largest community incubator of it’s kind in Australia the outlet not only gives local fashion designers a chance to display their work but it gives interested parties the chance to make an appointment and meet the designer in person.
