Prude

Don’t be a Prude: Wear It!

Prude is one of those hip labels that began its life retailing its collections under wobbly tents at a variety of markets. You know the type… a funky collection of designs available direct from the designer at a price that makes you smile.

Of course the label has maintained it genuineness and originality but has now moved into a more… stable environment. In fact these days Prude is available in a variety of retail outlets including its own flagship store in Fremantle, WA.

Prude is a label with an emphasis on embellishments, colour, vintage fabrics, a smattering of deconstruction and a sense of humour. Prude maintains its distinctive style by recycling vintage and retro fabrics and a collage of buttons, beads, lace, velvet paintings, feathers, sequins, zips, crystals, pom poms and plastic. The end product is a collection of contemporary wearable one off garments.

Prude will be displaying their latest range at the designedge fashion incubator agents showroom at the Spring Summer Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in conjunction with 14 other emerging West Australian designer labels.

Viewing of labels in the designedge fashion incubator agents showroom is by appointment with showroom coordinators TCFWA Committee Members, Margaret & Karl Farrell. Phone: 0403 794 445 or 0422 506228.

designedge fashion incubator showroom will be located in MAFW Agents & Designer Suite 3 @ MAFW, Circular Quay, Sydney.  The event runs from the 26th - 30th of April.

designedge fashion incubator - belmont has shown its significance to the fashion industry in Western Australia with its constant growth and development. Established by TCFWA & Belmont BEC in February 2005, it is now the largest community based fashion incubator in Australia, housing over 70 West Australian labels.  It offers a magnitude of opportunities to fashion labels at all stages of development from established to emerging designers by providing a retail outlet for them to sell their collections to the general public as well as offer them a base where national and international agents can view their collections. With the strong industry connections and know how of Carol Hanlon at the helm, the initiative also offers its designers wishing to start a new fashion label or to grow their existing label the tools to develop a successful small business in the fashion industry.

designedge fashion incubator agents suite @ MAFW has been made possible through grant assistance of the State of Western Australia through ArtsWA Designer Fashion Grants Program, TCFWA, Belmont BEC, Suki Moo and designedge fashion incubator located at Belmont Forum Shopping Centre.
